It's Aki's fifth day on the planet. What's it like to be his parents so far? Well, we feel a lot like Desmond Hume, one of our favorite characters on our favorite TV show, "Lost."
Desmond had to spend three years inside a Hatch, without going outside and without having much human contact. Every 108 minutes, an alarm would start ringing, and he had to go over to a computer, tap in a code, and press enter, or the world would end.
He had to do this every 108 minutes, day or night.
Just like him, we find ourselves groggily rolling out of bed throughout the night, changing diapers, swaddling, nursing, burping, settling back down. Repeat.
Luckily, Aki makes us love every second of it! We're biased, of course, but to us, he is the sweetest possible being on the face of the earth.
So this afternoon, after blearily fastening on yet another diaper and sinking back into a chair with a sigh, only to hear a telltale toot followed by a cry to change Aki again, we both broke down, not in tears, but with laughter, because we just love this little one so darn much.
